INCREASE YOUR INTAKE OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables each day may help prevent some types of cancer. Loaded with important vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidants, fruits and vegetables are both nutritious and usually low in calories.
To easily increase your daily intake of fruits and vegetables:
- keep dried fruits and vegetable juice boxes in your desk drawer and glove compartment;
- keep a bowl full of fresh veggies and fruits on your kitchen counter;
- purchase prewashed, precut vegetables such as baby carrots and broccoli florets;
- top your cereal with bananas or peaches;
- add blueberries to pancakes;
- drink 100% orange or grapefruit juice;
- pack a tangerine, a banana, or grapes to eat, or choose fruits from a salad bar;
- add mandarin oranges to a tossed salad; and
- have fruit for dessert.
